The foundation carries out the vision by following its core building blocks, academic excellence, service to humanity, universal values, and global understanding;
Academic Excellency
Through the Joyce Banda Foundation International Schools, the foundation educates and trains students to develop and exercise a spirit of competition and diligence, to empower and enable them to excel as they plan their futures and career paths.
Service to Humanity
The foundation is built on serving humanity, especially the disadvantaged and vulnerable in the community, including the sick and elderly, children who have been orphaned, and people with disabilities. The foundation builds its philanthropic work around this pillar, by providing basic needs through donations and outreach work.
Universal Values
The foundation emphasizes approaching its work based on community values including respect, courage, compassion, self-esteem, peace, and harmony. This is expressed through the JBFI Schools where students are encouraged to uphold and prioritize these values, as well as all employees and beneficiaries of the foundation.
Global Understanding
The foundation builds on its founder’s belief that we live in a global village, where everyone needs community to succeed and vice versa. This pillar emphasizes the students, beneficiaries, and employees to understand comprehend and appreciate global events, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, Economic Crisis, HIV/Aids, and Climate Change to be able to contextualize their communities to understand how we live in a global village.
